MOSES LAKE — It was a shaky start for Moses Lake in its non-league doubleheader against Kennewick.

The Walleyes were no-hit in the opener and lost 10-0. A 7-4 lead got away from Moses Lake in the nightcap, ending in an 9-7 defeat.

Blake Collier pitched no-hit innings for the Phantoms and struck out seven batters in the process. Kennewick held a narrow 3-0 lead after four innings before exploding in the fifth for seven runs.

Tyler Todish and Bryce Warren had two hits and drove in two runs each. Kyle Richie led the Phantoms with three hits.

Ezekyel Ochoa went 3 1/3 innings for Moses Lake on the bump.

Moses Lake’s offense regrouped in Game 2, holding a 7-4 lead after three innings. The Walleyes struck for five runs in the third inning after the Phantoms had briefly taken a 4-2 lead.

However, Kennewick scored two runs in the fourth and three runs in the sixth inning to retake the lead for good.

Tyler Pagliatulo and Blake Sidwell and two and one RBI, respectively, for the Walleyes. Todish had another big game for the Phantoms with two hits and three RBI.

Sidwell pitched 4 1/3 innings before Blake Pugh came on in relief. Sidwell and Pugh had two strikeouts each.

Moses Lake also played a doubleheader with Prosser, but the results were not available by press time.

Moses Lake hosts Wenatchee Thursday at 6 p.m.

Undermanned River Dogs sweep Walla Walla

WALLA WALLA — Working with just nine players, the River Dogs were able to sweep Walla Walla 5-4 and 7-5.

Nursing a 5-3 lead in the seventh inning of Game 1, Hunter Boyd was able to work out of a bases loaded jam with no outs. The former Moses Lake High School standout — and NWAC champion with Yakima Valley — allowed one run before inducing a game-ending double play.

“Didn’t pitch real well, but he competed enough to win,” head coach Randy Boruff said.

Cam Walker, Alex Martin and Kamryn Cerrillo drove in runs.

Trailing 5-3 in the nightcap, Cooper Larsen hit a game-tying two-run homer. Later, Glen Gosse hit a two-run single to pull the River Dogs ahead.

Larsen was 3-for-4 with two RBI, while Boyd had two hits and two RBI. Cerrillo picked up the win and Walker earned the save.
