Donald Adrian White went to be with the Lord on June 5, 2016. He was a loving husband, father, grandpa, great-grandpa, brother, uncle and friend who will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. Some of his nicknames were: Don, Donnie, Daddy, Dad, Papa, Papa Don and Papa Donald Duck. Donald was born Nov. 9, 1941, to Adrian and Sarah Mae White in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. He was raised on the family’s property in Rose Lake.

Donald graduated from Kootenai High School in 1960. Later that year, he married Mary Phillips. They were married for 47 years until Mary passed away in 2007. They had three children: Kevin, Kathy and Karole. During their marriage they lived in Harrison, Coeur d’Alene and Hayden. Donald loved listening to Mary play the piano.

In 2009, Donald married his junior high sweetheart, Elaine Kahn, and they lived in Post Falls. After retiring in 2011, Donald and Elaine enjoyed traveling and their favorite place to visit was Virginia Beach.

Donald was most at home in the woods. He started logging in his mid-teens and spent most of the following 55 years behind the wheel of his logging truck. He spent a short time driving truck on the Alaska Pipeline before it was “Ice Road Truckers” as well as a short time driving chip truck in Arizona.

Donald enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, dancing, metal detecting (although he never found his pot of gold, he did find many interesting items from jewelry to coins), fishing, hunting and playing horseshoes (he was the champion who couldn’t be beat at the family reunions). He also loved listening to his wife, Elaine and daughter Karole sing. Quack, Quack Papa Donald Duck.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Adrian White and Sarah Mae Healey of Coeur d’Alene; wife Mary White of Hayden and brother Jess White of Rose Lake. Donald is survived by his wife, Elaine White of Post Falls; son Kevin White and wife Shawn of Rathdrum; daughters Kathy Allen of Rathdrum and Karole White of Coeur d’Alene; brother Frank White and his wife Jean of Yuma, Ariz.; sisters Imogene Sverdsten of Coeur d’Alene, Karen Peterson of Boise, Nadine Weddle of Boise, and Mary Sperber and husband Steve of Coeur d’Alene; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today, June 8, 2016, at Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d’Alene Chapel. The graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 9, 2016, at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens. A potluck reception will be from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, June 11, 2016, at the Rose Lake Community Center. Please visit Don’s online memorial and sign his guest book at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
