Fern B. Sutton, 86, went to be with her Lord on June 5, 2016. She was born on March 3, 1930, in Slope County, N.D., to Oscar and Hazel (Jeffers) Claflin. The last several years Fern resided at Valley Vista Care in St. Maries, Idaho.
She spent her young childhood years in North Dakota until the family moved to Harrison, Idaho, where she attended school with her other siblings. Fern married Vollie Sutton on July 8, 1949, in Kellogg, Idaho, and had two children, a daughter and a son.
Fern loved to hunt, fish and camp. She was a wonderful loving caregiver to all who needed her assistance.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and numerous brothers and sisters. Survivors include her children, Virginia (Sutton) and George Thompson of Kingston, Idaho, and Gordon Sutton of Post Falls, Idaho; four grandchildren, Shawna (Thompson) Freeman and her companion, Kevin of Spokane, Wash., Shaun Thompson and companion Sally of Post Falls, John Sutton and Leslie of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Angela Sutton and her companion, Trevor of Kellogg; three great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Ralph Claflin of Oregon and Roger Claflin of Kellogg.
A visitation/viewing is 5-7 p.m. Thursday, June 9, 2016, at Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d’Alene Chapel, 744 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene, with a funeral at 1 p.m. Friday, June 10, 2016, at Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d’Alene Chapel. Fern’s final resting place will be at Lewis-Clark Memorial Gardens in Lewiston, Idaho, on Wednesday, June 15, 2016.
