Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 8 years, 7 months AGO
Alan “Al” Geoffrey Mieren died at home in Vancouver, Wash., on March 29, 2016, following a lengthy illness. Born Nov. 8, 1946, in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of the late Eugene and Rose Mieren.
Alan attended Grant High School and Pierce College in Los Angeles, Calif., and the University of Arizona. He married Peggy Brackney Mieren in Las Vegas, Nev., in September 1971. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves and later worked at Safeway on Fourth Street in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, until retiring in 2011.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Mieren; daughters Jenna Stephens and Emily Mieren, and their spouses; sister Dalene Fisher of Wilsonville, Ore.; and six grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister, Barbara Hoskinson.
Alan had a gift to make everybody smile. He loved his family, golf and the outdoors, probably in that order. He always had an impeccable yard and house and took pride in his work and his pursuits. He enjoyed more than one perfect game of bowling and holes-in-one on the golf course! He perfected his beautiful swing as a member of Prairie Falls Golf Club and Coeur d’Alene Golf Club.
There will be a celebration of life on Sunday, June 26, 2016, in Vancouver. For more information, email Jenna at kayakjen@comcast.net.
