LETTER: Christian values and a 'misleading' letter

Thank you, Seaborn Larson, for your article “Fresh Life opts not to renew Montana Building leases.”

I think it’s important for our community to know that on April 26, Fresh Life Church sent a letter to every tenant in the building stating that “We are excited about continuing to work with every one of the wonderful tenants in this building. We think it is a great honor to own a building with such a long and storied past. It is a privilege and responsibility we wish to steward well. Our plans are to keep operations running as they have been … Fresh Life’s intent is that all tenants are happy in the Montana Building.”

They go on to say that “if your lease is set to expire and you wish to extend … we will discuss that option with you.” Their letter implied that the current tenants were welcome, but as Mr. Larson reported, three weeks later they opted not to renew the leases. In my opinion, their letter was purposely misleading, dishonest, and deceitful. Even though Pastor Lusko (who refused to be interviewed by Mr. Larson) may feel he is in his legal right to rescind his agreement with the building tenants, he has completely ignored the common human honesty and decency that most of us have grown up believing is part of good Christian values.

Perhaps Pastor Lusko should meditate on Proverb 12:22: “The Lord detests lying but he delights in people who are trustworthy.” —Susan Cahill, Kalispell
