Craggy Range finishes extensive remodel

Craggy Range Bar & Grill in downtown Whitefish will reopen Tuesday after being closed since April for an extensive remodeling project.

During the renovation, a historic wall of hand-painted sign art on cinder blocks was created. The art display includes local family names going back three and four generations in Whitefish, including the Goble and Silliker families. The wall, a part of the old Hanging Tree bar that once operated next door to Craggy Range, now serves as a focal point and features a large flat-screen TV that covers an old window cutout in the center of the historic find.

In addition to the hand-painted sign art, a unique addition is the longest frost bar in Montana. A frost bar features a chilled metal rail running the length of the bar that creates a dry layer of frost on which patrons can rest their beer mugs and cocktails to keep them cold. Other new amenities are the garage-style front windows, a railroad foot rail around the bar, 16 flat-screen TVs (including two on the patio,) and an upgraded stage area for live music. John Dunnigan will perform at the grand reopening.

“We are excited to reveal Craggy’s new gastropub-inspired menu and interior,” said Brad Ridgeway, president of the Glacier Restaurant Group that owns Craggy Range. “Hammerquist Casalegno Construction and CTA Group have helped us create an entirely new feel and design that has elevated the operational flow of the restaurant and allowed us to meet and even exceed current industry trends.”

Craggy Range General Manager Sara Straka said the expanded central bar and open feel of the entire space will create a fun and interactive experience for watching games, listening to live music and enjoying dining with friends and family.

The new menu offers a wide range of choices including signature sirloin burgers, street tacos, a variety of sandwiches, creative fresh salads and specialty dishes such as Cubano sliders, Tso’s hot chicken sandwich, and the Truffle Shuffle Cavatappi.

Glacier Restaurant Group, headquartered in Whitefish, is a holding company that employs more than 2,000 people. Its restaurants include MacKenzie River Pizza, Grill & Pub, Max & Erma’s, Ciao Mambo, Craggy Range Bar & Grill and Latitude 48.

The Craggy Range Bar & Grill opened in July 2006.
