Othello man hurt in car crash

OTHELLO – An Othello man was injured when the car he was riding in collided with another at Cunningham Road and Highway 17 two miles east of Othello on May 27.
Travis E. Smith, 26, was taken by ambulance to Othello Community Hospital. He was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.
According to the Washington State Patrol, neither drugs nor alcohol influenced the crash. The crash occurred when the car Smith was in, driven by Vanessa Smith, 27, of Moses Lake entered 17 from Cunningham in front of a car traveling 17.
The WSP reported that Vanessa Smith was eastbound on Cunningham at the time of the crash.
Vanessa Smith drove her gray 2006 Toyota Camry into 17 to head north, and it was struck by a southbound black 1998 Ford pickup driven by Larry M. Samuels, 53, of Moses Lake.
The Camry was towed by Oscar’s Towing. The pickup was removed by Oscar’s. Samuels was uninjured.
Samuels and all other people involved in the crash were using proper safety restraints, the WSP reported.
“Failure to yield,” was the cause of the crash, the WSP reported. Vanessa Smith was cited.
