ROYAL CITY — A man and woman from Mattawa were identified as the two people who died in a collision near Royal City on Monday.

On Monday morning Fabiola Sitio Aniceto, 32, of Mattawa, was driving south on Road G Southwest in a 2004 Nissan pickup truck and reportedly failed to stop at the Road G and Road 11 Southwest intersection. She reportedly struck the passenger side of a 1993 Honda Accord driven by Jesus Lopez Lopez, 31, of Mattawa, that was traveling west on Road 11 Southwest, according to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.

Ericela Lopez Garcia, 32, of Mattawa, and Jose Carmen Marin Cruz, 42, of Mattawa, were passengers in the Honda and died as a result of injuries they received in the collision. Lopez Lopez was airlifted via LifeFlight helicopter to Kadlec Medical Center in Richland for treatment and was released from the hospital later in the day on Monday.

A 12-year-old passenger in the Nissan was injured and transported to Othello Community Hospital by ambulance for treatment. Sitio Aniceto and two other passengers in the Nissan declined medical treatment. The sheriff’s office reports that neither alcohol nor drugs played a role in the accident and everyone involved was wearing a seatbelt.
