POST FALLS — Jacob Elliott allowed three earned runs in six innings for the Cardinals in a loss to the Spokane Crew to open the Best of the Northwest tournament on Wednesday at Post Falls High.
“Jacob did a good job on the mound for us,” Prairie coach Brian Fowler said. “Our defense needs to do a better job of making simple plays to keep us in the game. Give credit to the Crew pitcher though, he was tough. Even with the perfect defense, I’m not sure we would have beat him today.”
Preston Benson tripled — his fourth in the last three games — for Prairie (2-8), which hosts Ridgeline Financial today at 10 a.m. in pool play.
