I was invited to join Austin Moser to do a two-lake adventure on Monday of this week.

I would join him, Mike McKee and Aaron Peterson to start at Lake Roosevelt to try for giant kokanee and then drop down to Banks Lake to see if we could catch some walleye before heading home. Kevin Winters and I met the boat at Spring Canyon and off we went.

We ran up lake to Swawilla Basin and went to work. After locating schools of kokanee and finding the right depth, which was 44 to 50 feet deep on the riggers we had great action.

We had our limits of kokanee, averaging 19 to 20 inches by 10 a.m. We also released some smaller fish and got a few rainbow, too.

We got the fish on a variety of spinners, including some from Kokabow Tackle and others that Moser had tied up the night before. We ran back to the launch and headed for Banks.

When we arrived we found it very windy and tried to hide from it in Devil’s Punchbowl. We got two fish here pulling crankbaits, and then ran over to Jones Bay to do the same. We found it still windy but wound up with 16 nice walleye in the cooler before heading home.

This is a great way to spend a day, fishing two lakes and coming home with both kokanee and walleye.

I had a great experience the other day. I had stopped by Hooked on Toys in Wenatchee and ran into someone that I knew from Lake Chelan.
