More apartments for Cd’A

COEUR d’ALENE — A Montana company is planning to construct a three-story, 52-unit apartment complex on the northeast corner of Mullan Avenue and Eighth Street.

The project is called The Lake Apartments and owner Brian Glenn said he is excited to build the project in Coeur d’Alene.

“We identified this project as one we would like to be involved in about a year ago,” Glenn said. “We just love being in Coeur d'Alene.”

Glenn, who has family in the area, said his company, Glenn Construction Co., specializes in projects like these all over the Pacific Northwest, and he may be interested in more projects around the Coeur d’Alene area.

“One of the biggest things that struck us about Coeur d’Alene is the visionary leadership that is apparent in Coeur d’Alene,” he said, adding the housing market is strong and there is low unemployment in the area.

Glenn said he doesn’t have a firm timeline set for the project just yet, but he has purchased the land and is in the process of getting his plans approved by the city.

“We want to work through the city requirements,” he said. “The city has a vested interest in having something that looks nice and accentuates the city investments downtown.

“We also want something that looks nice.”

Glenn said the recent investment in McEuen Park played a big factor in deciding to build downtown.

Tim Wilson, of Momentum Architecture, designed the apartment building, which will house a variety apartment sizes.

The three-story building is 55,552 square feet, with two studio apartments, 22 one-bedroom, 15 two-bedroom and three three-bedroom apartments. There will also be more than 4,000 square feet of common areas in the building, such as gyms, mailroom and even a bike locker room.

The project will go through the city’s design review commission on June 23 at noon in the old council chambers at City Hall.
