Glacier's Annie Hill wins Brooks PR mile

RENTON, Wash. — Glacier sophomore Annie Hill ran a personal best time of 4 minutes, 41.52 seconds to obliterate the field in the girls mile run at the Brooks PR Invitational.
Hill beat a field of the best runners in the country by more than three seconds in the win, running what would be the second fastest time ever by a Montana girl. Billings’ Christina Aragon ran a 4:37.91 to win the Adidas Dream Mile last year in New York.
The mile run was replaced by the 1,600-meter run in Montana prep competitions following the 1980 season. Libby’s Lori Krull holds the state record in 5:01.2. Aragon holds the top 1,600 time in 4:43.51 set at this spring’s state tournament.
Aragon also impressed at the meet, finishing second in the 800. The recent Billings Senior grad made a late charge in the final lap but couldn’t quite pass New York’s Sammy Watson, finishing in 2:06.04, less than a tenth of a second behind Watson who won in 2:05.95.
Flathead’s Jake Perrin was one of 13 guys to break nine minutes in the two mile race. Perrin finished 12th in 8:58.09, a time that converts to the fastest ever run by a Montana boy.
Like the mile, the two mile run was abandoned for the 3,200 after 1980, and Perrin’s time easily passes the 9:17.0 set by Butte’s Mike Houlihan in 1976. However, with the two mile longer by nearly 19 meters, his time is also faster than the 8:55.24 run by Zach Perrin, Jake’s older brother, in the 2012 Arcadia Invitational 3,200, converting to 8:54.97.
Ohio’s Andrew Jordan led the fast pack of boys to win the two mile race in 8:50.12.
