Kalispell Fire Department came to the rescue of baby ducks caught in a drain on Hutton Ranch Road. A woman called police initially to report a baby duck stuck in a drain and that the “mama and other babies” were hanging around the drain. When the fire department lifted the grate more babies were found. It was reported “there were a total of 10 baby duckies in the drain and they are all out.”

Kalispell Police Department received a report of suspicious behavior when someone said a man was allegedly hiding in the men’s bathroom by soccer fields for about 30 minutes. The caller believed he was watching the girls playing soccer, but he would duck and hide when someone came by. Officers counseled the man about camping in the park and he was moved along.

Skateboarders had to leave Depot Park after officers received a call from someone that wasn’t sure if they were drinking. The skateboarders’ vehicles were also reported to be blocking the driveway to the visitor center.

The caller told officers the man said he lived in Missoula and was dropped off to collect some money that was owed to him. The man was told to move along when he continued to knock on doors.

A passerby claimed to see a man beating a woman on Hutton Ranch Road. While the passerby didn’t actually see the man strike the woman, the man reportedly pulled her out of a van by the legs and the woman hit the ground hard and screamed. It was later discerned the struggle was over the woman trying to take the man’s backpack, and the pair were separated.

Whitefish Police Department responded to a call of a physical disturbance between a man and woman on Iowa Avenue. The woman reportedly told a neighbor that the man tried to strangle her and the neighbor called police. The woman said the man allegedly came to her residence intoxicated, had wet himself and when she told him to get out he came back in, so she pushed and hit him. That’s when he grabbed and allegedly choked her and when the neighbor came down after hearing her screaming.

Someone called police from the dog park after allegedly seeing a woman lock a baby in a vehicle with the windows cracked. The mother was counseled.

A man on Central Avenue allegedly told someone that he wanted to be arrested. That person then told police of the man’s wishes, but said that the man was just sitting in a chair not harming anyone. Possibly the same man was later spotted climbing on railroad cars on Depot Street.

A man was seen allegedly getting beaten up on Baker Avenue.

A Pine Avenue resident called to report a man had passed out in his or her yard. The caller said the man looked to be sleeping and was not injured, but was missing a shoe.

A dose of belligerence, youth and alcohol resulted in police being needed to order a man to leave a “shanty building” on Depot Street.
