LETTER: Will governor prevent influx of refugees?

Wake up, Montana!

With the recent attack in Orlando, I feel the people of Montana need to know about a recent experience of mine.

Over a month ago our clueless governor was on the radio stating that we need to take in Syrian refugees into our state. He stated that he would assure that these people would be well vetted and that complete background checks would be done to assure these people were not terrorists.

This was the same week that the director and deputy director of the FBI, the chairman of Homeland Security and the director of the NSA all stated that the federal government was not able to complete the process.

I called the governor’s office and asked the following simple question: What resources do you have at your disposal that the federal government does not have available to the various agencies to assure proper vetting and background checks of these Syrian refugees? Never received an answer.

The next week I heard that Bullock was going to be at the Rotary luncheon in Kalispell. I went down and during the question/answer session I asked him directly the same question. He stated he would not let them come into the state. This was after stating that he intended to do exactly that. Question/answer session immediately over, with no answer to my actual question.

I recall that recently Sen. Tester stated that we should allow these 18- to 35-year-old males into our state without proper vetting. Additionally, Tester stated that we needed to bail out Puerto Rico and Venezuela. We are totally broke!

It is quite apparent that both of these clueless individuals do not have the safety of their citizens at heart. God bless the U.S.A.
