A 42-year-old Spokane man who was arrested on a $200,000 Kootenai County warrant and for allegedly sending sexually graphic images and messages to a 16-year-old girl is believed to have contacted more juvenile females in Coeur d'Alene the same way.

Shaun D. Jesse, a registered sex offender stemming from a 2003 incident where he was convicted of sexual abuse of a minor in Idaho, was arrested on Friday without incident at a probation office in Spokane.

"We received information that he sent unsolicited pictures and text messages through Facebook to a 16-year-old in Spokane," said Deputy Mark Gregory with the Spokane County Sheriff's Office.

The investigation revealed there are additional juvenile female victims in Coeur d'Alene, Gregory said.

Jesse's warrant in Kootenai County was sought by Coeur d'Alene Police and issued for two counts of enticing a child through the use of the Internet and disseminating harmful material.

Gregory said it's unclear exactly how many alleged victims there are. The sheriff's office on Monday released an image of a distinctive red and blue tattoo on Jesse's abdomen that police believe victims may recognize.

A Spokane County detective found Jesse allegedly used his Facebook account to send 18 unsolicited message to the 16-year-old girl, four of which included photos of Jesse with his genitalia exposed, according to the sheriff's office. In the written text, he allegedly offered or requested to have sexual contact with the victim as well as offered her drugs.

The sheriff's office contacted Coeur d'Alene Police after a detective identified additional alleged juvenile victims living in Coeur d'Alene who Jesse contacted the same way.

Jesse's criminal history includes being booked into the Kootenai County jail on warrants in 2003, 2007 and 2014 and for drug possession and assault in 2014.

Additional sexual predator victims are urged to contact Coeur d'Alene Police at 769-2320.

No movement in region to go that route to enhance school safety

While the idea of arming teachers, as a means to increase school safety, is catching on in some areas, there’s no such momentum in Kootenai County.
