Ronald Bruce Russell Sr., 71, of Hayden, Idaho, passed away May 10, 2016, at 8:40 a.m. and was received by our savior at the gates of heaven. Ron was born April 20, 1945, in Lebanon, Pa.
Ron struggled with ill health for many years, but was a fighter to the end.
Ron served in the U.S. Navy from 1960-1963. He worked as a surveyor, business owner and sales representative for most of his career. He retired from Transtector Systems in Hayden, Idaho, nearly 15 years ago.
He enjoyed fly fishing, skiing and camping. He was well traveled throughout the U.S. and abroad.
In retirement he was an avid gardener. He loved his flowers and always looked forward to spring.
Ronald was a loving husband, great father and friend.
Ronald’s greatest gift to all in life and death was his gift to science as a body donor. Sight will be restored to two people and many others will benefit from his gifts to Science Care and Restore Sight.
Ron is preceded in death by his mother, Catherine Lukezic and father Arthur Lukezic of Mesa, Ariz. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Brenda; his sons, Ronald B. Russell Jr. and Rodney H. Russell; grandchildren Cole Russell and Brady Russell; mother-in-law Anna Mae Ondrusek; step mother-in-law Dolly Ondrusek; daughter-in-law Amy Serbaroli; brothers Gary Russell and Tony Quairoli; sister Judy Schwalm; sisters-in-law Carol Quairoli, Kim (Kevin) Anspach, Kelly (Brian) Brandt and Paula (Daniel) Shepler; aunts, uncles, cousins and his many friends.
A vigil service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2016, at Lake City Church, 6000 N. Ramsey Road, Coeur d’Alene. After the memorial, a celebration of Ron’s life will be held at his home in Hayden.
