SELECT BASEBALL

Northwest Premier 18-and-under: The Northwest Premier won the 19U Boys of Summer Invitational last weekend in Belgrade, Mont.

Northwest Premier beat teams from Montana and Wyoming they went 3-1 in pool play to advance to the championship game.

The Bitterroot Red Sox beat Premier 5-2 in pool play. But in the rematch, the Premier totaled 21 hits and blanked the Red Sox 20-0 in 5 innings. Tanner Toepke threw four scoreless innings and Vincent Bennett closed out the fifth as Premier pitchers allowed just four total hits.

Trevor Luckey went 13 for 18 on the weekend for Northwest Premier, and Tanner Toepke won his second tournament MVP.

LEGION BASEBALL

Coeur d’Alene Lumbermen 16-and-under: The Lums beat Gonzaga Prep 4-1 last Wednesday at G-Prep to improve to 5-8, 2-4 in league. Connor Taylor and Brett Keesee teamed on a two-hitter for the Lums, and Quinton Bunch hit a two-run double in the seventh inning to cap the scoring.

Also, the 16U Lumberman went 3-2 and placed second in the Walla Walla Griz tournament June 10-12, losing only to the host Griz — once during pool play and once in the championship game. Two of the Lums’ wins came in walk-off fashion, on singles by Eli Samaha and Cody Davenport in the bottom of the eighth inning.
