LAW ROUNDUP: Would-be thief blasted with bear spray

One of two men reportedly was hit with bear spray by a quick-thinking Fifth Avenue West North resident when the men attempted to push into the resident’s door when she went to let her dogs out. The men were described to Kalispell Police Department as wearing blue and black baggy pants and white and navy blue or black shirts.
Two friends were looking for a completely different type of recreation at Woodland Park and reported to police that a man offered them marijuana.
A syringe was found in the bushes on First Avenue West North.
It wasn’t brotherly love when a man allegedly slapped his sister in the face on Greenbriar Drive after she told him not to take food out of the fridge. It wasn’t certain if he had been taking drugs or alcohol.
A woman hit and reportedly split the bottom half of someone’s eye open on North Meridian Road. At first, the alleged victim didn’t want to pursue charges, but after thinking about the situation for a few hours, decided otherwise.
A Sixth Avenue West resident said neighbors were shooting artillery shells.
Someone who claimed to be from California was eyeing an abandoned camper and horse trailer on U.S. 93 North and called police if a California law applied to Montana that stated anyone could assume ownership and apply for a title to a vehicle abandoned for 30 days.
An altercation on U.S. 2 West resulted in one man allegedly grabbing the throat of another in a U.S. 2 West parking lot. One of the men had a history of drugs and assault with weapon and was known to carry firearms.
Someone was worried that people parked in a van on Corporate Court were getting ready to camp there for the night. The woman in the driver’s seat apparently was relaxing and reading a book and said she would move along shortly.
A woman on Second Avenue West thought she heard a gunshot and thought it may be someone shooting a barking dog on Third Street West. The woman also told police she heard tapping on metal and believed someone may be breaking into something.
A man reportedly took off after a bicycle tire he was filling blew out at an East Idaho Street business. The man calling the report in to police said he suspected the bicycle was likely a stolen child’s bike. The caller said the thief was a methamphetamine user and he has kicked him out of the store before for allegedly “shooting up” in the bathroom.
A vehicle parked on U.S. 93 North had a window shot out, possibly by a BB gun.
A property manager on First Avenue East told officers people have been coming onto the roof of a building after finding an old wooden ladder between the buildings, along with beer cans, trash and other items littered on the roof. The ladder was removed.
Someone’s 16-year-old boy was hit while others stripped his bike of “pegs.” The teen had jaw pain but refused medical attention.
A 10th Avenue West property owner may have regretted her decision to let a woman in a motor home park on her property two days ago as long as “she didn’t cause problems or do anything stupid,” because the woman was spotted dumping a sewer holding tank onto the property. The woman was asked to leave.
A Merganser Drive resident’s invited guest became an unwelcome one. When asked to leave, the guest reportedly said, “I will give you your key back when I get my items and if you touch any of my things I will hurt you.” The resident responded, “That sounds like a threat.” The guest’s reply: “That’s not a threat; that’s a promise.” The resident was advised to call back if things “got heated.”
A man wearing tan pants and a tan vest on Three Mile Drive apparently had no patriotism when he allegedly cut the rope on a flag and let it fall to the ground.
A wrecker was called to the rescue of a motor home stuck on a rock on U.S. 93 South, according to a Whitefish Police Department report.
Several young rapscallions were seen throwing firecrackers out the window of a black truck with the music blaring on Columbia Avenue.
Extra patrol in the evenings was requested on Spokane Avenue by someone who said there have been issues with transients setting up camp.
A boat had mistakenly been dropped off at the wrong dock on Barkley Lane.
A man was not happy to find one of the tires on his vehicle had been slashed after having been parked for three hours near tennis courts and a walking path.
Public Works was advised of water spewing out of a crack in the sidewalk next to restrooms.
Loud music was reported on Darlene Road by someone who called the Columbia Falls Police Department citing it was an ongoing issue. When the caller found out the loud music was due to a child’s party, the caller rescinded his or her complaint.
Smith Valley Fire Department responded to a grass/brush/wildland fire on Valley View Drive.
Firefighters also responded to a motor vehicle fire on U.S. 2 West.
Bigfork Fire Department responded to a power lines emergency on Village Lane.
