EPHRATA — A wildland fire burned about 75 acres of brush near Ephrata before firefighters were able to contain it.

About 2:15 p.m. Grant County Fire District No. 13 responded Monday to a wildland fire in the 5800 block of Road 10.2 Northwest, about seven miles southwest of Ephrata. When crews initially arrived at the scene about 15 acres had burned and a shed was on fire, according to information provided by GCFD No. 13 on Tuesday.

Grant County Fire District No. 3 and the Ephrata Fire Department provided mutual aid to combat the fire, as seven homes in the area were threatened by the flames. The fire charred about 75 acres before crews at the scene were able to fully contain it. In addition to the shed, a number of abandoned vehicles and a motor home were destroyed.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Grant County Fire Marshal’s Office.
