Shippy, a sophomore second baseman from Lake City High, went 3 for 3 with two runs scored for the Cowboys (6-10) in an 8-4 win over Washington on Feb. 26 in Palm Springs, Calif. Shippy is batting .314 (16 for 51) with five runs batted in and eight runs scored.

Stangel, a junior from Lake City High, has 11 hits and three runs scored for the Huskies (11-3), sparking a rally with an RBI single in the fourth inning of a 6-5 win against Nebraska on Sunday.
Kinsey Gomez
Idaho track and field
Gomez, a senior from Coeur d’Alene High, won the 5,000 meter run in the Big Sky Championships on Feb. 26 in Bozeman, Mont., finishing in 17 minutes, 2.64 seconds. Gomez was second in the mile run in 4:55.38, earning all-Big Sky Conference for both. “Kinsey ran extremely well on Friday night,” Idaho coach Tim Cawley said. “She and coach Travis Floeck came up with a great plan and she executed it beautifully. To watch that race unfold the way she wanted it to, with her command and confidence in the final few laps, it really was exciting to watch. Then to come back in the mile was fantastic. Just great performances all weekend.”

Sutton, a sophomore from Coeur d’Alene High, was named the Western Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week, going 8 for 12 with two doubles, two runs scord and three RBIs in the Redhawks weekend series against Bowling Green. In the series opener, he was 3 for 3 and followed that up by going 4 for 6 in a doubleheader on Feb. 27. For the season, Sutton is second in the conference in batting average (.478), third in total bases (17) and fourth in hits (11).

Norlander, a 6-foot sophomore post from Timberlake High, is averaging 14.8 points per game and is eighth in rebounding for Green River (8-19), averaging 10.96 a game.
