A man facing felony assault and theft charges is also facing out-of-state extradition.

Robert Wayne Snide Jr., 31, is facing charges of felony theft and assault with a weapon in Flathead County for allegedly stealing acetylene tanks and other construction gear from a construction business on Nov. 29, 2015, and stabbing a man at a residence south of Kalispell on Dec. 28.

Snide’s trial in the theft case is set for March 28, however Judge David Ortley has ordered that Snide make a determination about how to handle an extradition warrant issued by the governor of Michigan. Snide has until March 18 to decide whether or not he wants to fight the extradition.

Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder signed a warrant for Snide’s extradition on Jan. 28. According to accompanying documents, Snide is on probation for felony larceny of a building in Kent County, Michigan, which includes the town of Grand Rapids.

Snide was flagged as a habitual offender in the report. He was previously convicted of felony operation of a clandestine methamphetamine lab. According to his probation and parole report, Snide had 52 prior criminal offenses at the time of his conviction for larceny. Having 25 offenses on a criminal record is considered “high” under Michigan sentencing guidelines.

Snide was convicted in September 2011 and allegedly stopped reporting to probation and parole by July 2012. He allegedly did not obtain employment as directed and was arrested in July 2012 for stealing batteries, a bottle of muriatic acid and other items believed to be involved in possible methamphetamine manufacturing. He lost touch with probation officials shortly thereafter.

Snide has been dealing with authorities in the Flathead Valley since at least mid-2015, when he allegedly started harassing a Kalispell family that was later granted an order of protection against him. He allegedly threatened to stab and shoot a man. The victim of the stabbing in which Snide is accused of being involved with on Dec. 28 was not involved in the order of protection.

Snide is scheduled have a bond reduction hearing in the stabbing case today.
