Kastella earns All-State basketball honors

Whitefish’s leading scorer Derek Kastella has earned All-State and All-Conference basketball honors.

The junior racked up 310 total points this season to average nearly 15 points a game. He shot 44 percent from two-point range and 34 percent from deep.

Kastella was the lone Bulldog selected to All-State and the Northwest A first team.

Senior Luke May and sophomore Jacob Henry earned All-Conference second team honors.

May dished out 52 assists and snagged 29 steals to lead the Bulldogs. He also pulled down 96 rebounds and averaged about five points a game.

Bulldog sharpshooter Henry came on strong in the second half of the season as an outside threat. He led the team with 30 three-pointers made, averaging 44 percent from deep. Henry accounted for more than nine points a game.

Whitefish finished the season 7-14 overall and earned a No. 2 seed in the Western A tournament.
