ROYAL CITY — Interviews on March 3-4 of the five semifinal candidates for superintendent of the Royal School District have yielded two finalists, and they include long-time community member Andrew Perkins.

The Royal School District will host the two finalists on March 9 and 10 for round two of interviews. The second semifinalist is Roger Trail, executive director of human resources for the Clarkston School District.

Perkins and Trail will each spend an entire day in the District meeting with staff and students. Their visit will also include another interview with the Board and will culminate with a community forum.

Perkins is the career and technical education (CTE) director and athletic director for Royal School District. His prior experiences include being a teacher in the Royal School District, Royal City mayor, and Air Force officer.

Trail’s former experiences include being a special services director, high school administrator and Spanish teacher.

According to Business Manager David Andra, the entire Royal community is invited to meet the candidates over cookies and punch in the Royal Intermediate School cafeteria at 7 p.m. on March 9-10.

Perkins’ interview will be on the 9th, and Trail’s interview will be on the 10th. Spanish translation will be available.

After meeting the candidates, people will be asked to fill out an input form, Andra said. The School Board will take into consideration all of the input forms as they make their final decision, Andra added.

You may contact David Andra with any questions or comments at 346-2222 or dandra@royal.wednet.edu.
