It’s that special time of the year again, when Libby’s youth take to the fields to enjoy time with friends and family playing the great sport of baseball.

Libby’s youth baseball and softball registration will be held from 3:30 p.m until 6:30 p.m., March 16, 17 and 30 in the lobby of Libby Elementary School. All children between the ages of four and 13 are eligible to play.

The registration fee this year is $45 for the first child in the household, with the fee dropping by $5 per kid registered in the same household. The fee includes the uniform jersey and hat.

Jen McElmurry, who helps run the local league, said last year there were about 350 kids playing in 22 teams spread amongst the Tee-Ball, Farm, Minor, Major and Seniors leagues, with both boys and girls.

“It’s cool to play baseball and hang out with your friends, under the sun,” she said. “It’s an all-American sport.”
