Prom night arrives Saturday for local students

On Saturday, Flathead Valley high school students will step out in gowns and tuxes for prom.
Bigfork High School students will find themselves under the big top in a circus-themed prom. The dance will be from 8 to 10 p.m. at Diamond B Weddings, 2909 Lower Valley Road. Professional photos are available from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets are $15 per person when purchased in advance ($20 at the door) or $25 per couple. Tickets may be purchased during lunch in the high school foyer.
Columbia Falls High School students will find themselves in a fairytale at the “Once Upon a Winter Wonderland” prom. A grand march is planned at 7 p.m. The dance will be from 8 to 11 p.m. at the school. Professional photos will be available during the dance. Tickets are $45 per couple when purchased in advance or $60 at door. Tickets may be purchased in advance at the school during lunch hours.
The junior class is also holding a Flathead Valley “community prom” from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Friday in the school gym. Dance the night away to music provided by the Don Lawrence Orchestra and the Columbia Falls High School Columbians. Refreshments will be provided. Donations will be accepted at the door.
Delicious treats are in store for Flathead High School students when “The Dance Awakens” from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. in the high school commons. A candy buffet sponsored by Norm’s News will be featured along with sweet syrups in flavored Italian sodas. Professional photos will be available. Cost is $10 per person, payable in advance or at the door.
Special this year is a prom salon provided to girls who have been nominated by staff and invited to get the full treatment of hair and beauty services along with gifts. The prom salon is provided through generous donations from the Flathead High School community.
People interested in volunteering to chaperone the dance may call 751-3474.
Glacier High School students will take a “Waltz in the Woods” for the 2016 prom. A grand march, featuring senior prom-goers, is set to begin at 9 p.m. in the school commons followed by the dance, which goes until 11:30 p.m. Professional photos will be available from 8 to 11 p.m. Cost is $15 per person or $25 per couple payable in advance in the main office or at the door.
A dual Flathead/Glacier ticket price is $30 per couple.

Flathead CARE and Kalispell’s Signature Stadium 14 movie theater will host a free after-prom movie event. Students receive a popcorn and soda. Movies that will be shown are “Allegiant,” “Zootopia” and “10 Cloverfield Lane.”
Doors open at 11:45 p.m. Saturday with the first movie starting at 12:30 a.m. and the second movie beginning at 3:30 a.m. Tickets are available in each high school’s main office. Prom attendance is not mandatory.
Whitefish High School students will turn back time to the Roaring ’20s at their “Great Gatsby” prom. The night begins with a grand march at 7:30 p.m. at the O’Shaughnessy Center followed by the dance from 8 to 11 p.m. Tickets have already been sold and will not be available at the door.
