Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry said his office is investigating the death of a local 38-year-old woman whose body was found Monday morning on a barge docked in Lakeside.

Curry hesitated to call the death suspicious and said his office would know more once toxicology and autopsy results come back from the Montana State Crime Lab.

The woman was found by workers who showed up to work Monday morning, Curry said.

She did not appear to have been beaten up, as the original caller to 911 reported, Curry said.

“We don’t know yet why she died,” Curry said. “We’re certainly working on it. We always investigate these thoroughly.”

The woman’s name has not been released.
