LAW ROUNDUP: Hair-product pitch gets aggressive

The Kalispell Police Department received a complaint from a woman about a man who had aggressively grabbed her hair while trying to sell her hair-care products.

A man called 9-1-1 after his car died on a set of railroad tracks. Police promptly called a tow company to move the vehicle.

Two people were seen having sex in a car on the west side of Kalispell. Police spoke with both people involved and the mother of one of the suspects.

A woman saw two youths allegedly exchanging drugs for money in a Kalispell parking lot. Police were able to find the vehicle based on the caller’s description and cited the driver for possession of dangerous drugs.

A woman came to the Kalispell Police Department to report a possible phone scam.

A security guard caught two people shoplifting at a Kalispell business.

A different security guard reported finding a bag of drugs he believed was marijuana.

An employer called dispatch to report one of his employees had been threated by her boyfriend, who said he was going to shoot her.

Two high school boys were reported coming to a Kalispell home in hopes of fighting another high-schooler. According to the father who called, two boys jumped his fence and began knocking on his son’s window trying to get him to come out. The caller’s son and nephew went outside and were attacked by the two boys, who quickly left in a minivan before police arrived.

A woman was seen switching a one-way street sign to point the wrong direction.

Someone stole the license plates off a Kalispell vehicle.

A drunken man called to help locate where he was.


A man called Whitefish Police Department when he saw a gate ajar to a back yard.

Someone stole a set of power tools from a Whitefish man’s pickup bed.

A house sitter accidentally set off the home’s alarm system.

A man called to say he accidentally had locked himself out of his company’s vehicle in downtown Whitefish.


A resident reported to Columbia Falls Police seeing a red van drive down the street every day behind a running dog. While the driver may be taking the dog for a run, the caller thought this could be animal cruelty.

Someone vandalized equipment at a hotel construction site in Columbia Falls.

Police got a report of a suspicious-looking man dressed in camouflage and wearing a strange mask. Officers assured the caller that the man is harmless.

An employee at a Columbia Falls business called in a man who had been drinking all day near the parking lot of the business. The man was sitting in his pickup when police arrived, and said he was simply waiting for a phone call before he would walk home.

Someone called dispatch about a man walking around a hotel construction site with a flashlight around 8:30 p.m. on Thursday.

The caller said the man looked like he was carrying things from the construction site to his vehicle. Police found the man was a contractor moving old materials for a new shipment to arrive the next day.
