Wahluke takes one from Granger

MATTAWA — Wahluke disposed of Granger, 4-0, last week to run its non-league record in high school boys soccer to 2-0-1.
But this does not mean Granger will be easier to handle than last years as the season rolls toward the tournament time.
“This was their first game, and it was our third,” Warrior coach Arthur De Victoria said. “That makes a big difference.”
Wahluke junior forward Emanuel Hidalgo continued his torrid early season, scoring in the sixth minute for his fourth goal of the year. It came from about the 18-yard area on the right side when he deposited a through ball from junior midfielder Jorge Rincon.
The defenses held for the rest of the half, and then senior forward Eduardo Valdenea exploded for a hat trick. All of the scores were from well inside the 18-yard line, and all were assisted by Rincon.
Valdenea’s first score came in the 41st minute, the second occurred in the 48th minute, and the third happened in the 78th minute.
Starting to round into midseason form, Wahluke took eight shots on goal. Granger had had only two, and they were stopped by senior tender Ulysses Gonzalez.
