A Bigfork man became argumentative with a Flathead County Sheriff’s deputy who responded to the man’s residence after he reported an ex-girlfriend who was living with him became upset when he asked her to leave and broke eggs to leave a mess in the kitchen. The woman also allegedly made off with curtains, cushions and a cellphone charger. The deputy was unable to resolve the issue because the man was argumentative and possibly drunk.
A woman called from Sixth Avenue East to report that someone had stolen checks and successfully cashed one for $1,200. The thief allegedly tried to cash another $4,000 in checks, but was unsuccessful.
An officer told a woman on Whitefish Stage Road that while her daughter might be unruly during spring break, that behavior was not inherently illegal and there was nothing he could do to correct the girl. The woman said she would get school counselors to help once the break is over.
Three or four storage units in Marion were broken into and a large television and other items were stolen.
A vehicle stolen from U.S. 2 near Kalispell was found by authorities in Sacramento, California. Authorities in that state were unable to identify the car thief.
A 10-year-old boy found a Homeland Security agent’s badge near Foy’s Lake boat launch. Despite the fact that the “special agent” badge might have been a cool souvenir for the youngster, he turned it into authorities who reunited it with its owner.
A woman on Hellman Lane in Columbia Falls wanted to know if a dog is considered to be abandoned after its owner did not follow through with a promise made in November to send money to help pay for the dog’s food. A deputy talked to the former owner on the phone. The man said the deputy should take the dog to the shelter if the woman cannot care for it.
A woman was confused as to how thieves could have gotten into her vehicle that was parked off U.S. 2 East and stolen a .40 Smith and Wesson pistol. The woman left her vehicle locked, but when she returned she found that the vehicle was still locked, but the console was open and the gun was gone.
A man called from a location outside of Kalispell to report that another man had made threats on social media to rape and kill his wife. Though the former colleague lived in Chicago, there was concern the man might follow through with the threat.
Hotel staff called the Kalispell Police Department after guests allegedly left drugs in a room. The staff had trouble getting the guests to pay for the room.
A man reported his son’s tires were slashed at a location downtown near North Main Street.
A woman on Eider Drive told an unknown man to stop sending her 14-year-old son inappropriate messages on social media, but also reported the incident to police.
A person asked that two mallard ducks sitting in a mud puddle next to a casino on U.S. 93 South be removed to a nearby park. An animal control officer promised to make sure the ducks were not in any sort of danger.
A man and woman were taken to jail after someone called and said the man was beating the woman at a location off Fourth Avenue East. The truck the couple appeared to be using was seized as part of the investigation after its plates were found to not be valid.
A woman called from East Center Street to report her mother had written a check to a man for $270, but that when it cleared the bank it appeared the recipient had altered the check.
