Man allegedly threatens to kill victim, police

MOSES LAKE — An intoxicated man allegedly assaulted and choked a man in Moses Lake late Tuesday night and threatened to kill the victim and Moses Lake Police Department officers after he is released from jail.

About 11:45 p.m. Tuesday night the MLPD received a report of a physical domestic incident in the 700 block of South Poplar Street. Police contacted the victim in the incident who said a man, identified as Michael Numkena, 34, of Moses Lake, was intoxicated and became upset with him, according to police records.

Numkena allegedly took the man to the ground and started to choke him. The victim told police he couldn’t breath as Numkena was choking him and felt as if “he was going to be killed” by Numkena. When police initially contacted Numkena he was reportedly “highly” intoxicated and did not comply with police.

He refused to speak with Moses Lake police and became upset when he learned he was going to be arrested. Numkena allegedly threatened to kill the victim and officers after he is released from jail, according to police records. Numkena was transported and booked into the Grant County Jail on two counts of felony harassment, third-degree assault and second-degree assault (domestic violence.)
