After a third place finish in the Class BC state tournament last year, the MAC softball team is looking to continue their success on the ball diamond. This year, the Bulldogs will have some new competition in Class A drop-downs Anaconda and Libby, both of whom competed in the Class A state tournament last year. MAC will also be up against a familiar foe in Ronan, who beat them in the state tournament last year to move on to the championship game.
Returning for the Bulldogs will be a number of key players. Among those players is senior Mikaylan Roylance (2015 = 108AB, 51H, (14)2B, (3)3B, 1HR, 23RBI, .472AVG), who earned All-State honors this past season. Others include senior short stop Jordyn Eichert (2015 = 81AB, 32H, (11)2B, 2HR, 19RBI, .395AVG), senior center fielder Morgan Malatare (2015 = 75AB, 29H, (6)2B, 6HR, 29RBI, .387AVG), and senior pitcher Jaycee Anderson (2015 = 63AB, 18H, (3)2B, (1)3B, 2HR, 11RBI .286AVG). Ran’Dee Charlo (2015 = 74AB, 30H, (9)2B, 1HR, 17RBI, .405AVG), also returns as a pitcher, and Kenzie Couture (2015 = 79AB, 24H, (2)2B, 2HR, 15RBI, .304AVG) will return as the catcher.
Sophmore Haley Crawford (2015 = 24AB, 8H, (1)2B, (1)3B, 7RBI, .333AVG), will also add depth to the team.
A few key positions that will need to be filled for the Bulldogs are first base and left field. The team lost a great first baseman in Emilie Charlo, who graduated.
The varsity team’s first games are this weekend in St. Ignatius.
The JV team held a tournament this past Saturday. No results were made available.
