MOSES LAKE — A woman contacted police late Monday night after finding a dead man inside her Moses Lake home.

About 11 p.m. Monday night the woman told police she heard a loud noise inside her home in the 8700 block of Neppel Road Northeast. When she went into her living room to investigate the noise she found a man, identified as Thomas M. Hernandez, 21, of Ephrata, on her living room floor, according to Grant County Sheriff's Office spokesman Kyle Foreman.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene and attempted life saving measures on Hernandez, who reportedly received a single gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives are interviewing the woman who contacted police and her adult son, who were the only occupants of the home at the time of the initial report, according to the sheriff’s office. The investigation is ongoing and no arrests had been made as of press time on Tuesday.
