Music students advance to State in Helena

Music Districts were held at Sentinel High School in Missoula on April 15. Several Mineral County students received awards from the event. Alberton music teacher, Mike Wolfe, said that the high school band received a superior rating of 1, for sight reading and an excellent rating of 2, for performance.

Kristina Solinger missed a superior rating by one point for her vocal solo, and Mackenzie Spence received a 1 for her solo and will be attending the State Music Festival on May 6 – 7 in Helena.

The St. Regis band received a superior rating on their sight reading, and Brock Cantrell-Field got a 1 on his instrumental solo. Brock will also be going to State. The band also received excellent ratings on their prepared pieces.

Krystina Thompson received an excellent rating on her vocal solo, as well as the woodwind trio of Madison Kelly, Justice Tate, and Anna Sanford.

The Superior band received a score of excellent and the choir received a superior score. Nathan Lapinski received a superior score for vocal solo, along with Aidan Patko, for timpani solo. Kim Parsons also receive a superior score for her flute solo, and Aidan, Nathan, and Matthew Buchanan received a superior score for vocal trio. All of these students will be attending State.
