A Kila man has pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol for the sixth time.

Ryan Daniel Mills, 31, pleaded guilty before Flathead District Judge Heidi Ulbricht on Tuesday.

Mills also had a three-year suspended sentence and another five-year suspended sentence revoked for two prior felony DUI convictions in 2014.

According to court documents, the most recent conviction resulted after a Montana Highway Patrol trooper stopped Mills on U.S. 2 in March because Mills was observed driving his vehicle below the speed limit and crossing the fog line.

When Mills pulled over, he jumped the curb into a grassy area. An open container of alcohol was found in the driver’s cup holder.

Mills has five previous convictions for driving under the influence, including two from 2014 and three others in 2013, 2007 and 2005.

He is set to be sentenced on July 21. Mills was released from jail pending sentencing. He will be under the supervision of Probation and Parole. He was ordered to wear a bracelet that monitors alcohol consumption.

The motion for release filed by Mills’ attorney Brent Getty said that the release from custody was made “due to the overcrowding situation in the detention center.”
