March Royal students of month named

ROYAL CITY — Alex Ramirez, Aide Saldaña, Isaac Ellis and Vanessa Duran-Sandoval were selected the Royal High School students of the month for March, Counselor Jennifer McCoy has announced.
Students of the month are chosen by the educational staff from a list of nominations developed by McCoy. They are recognized for various character traits, including attitude, academics and citizenship.
The freshman Ramirez was nominated for “excellence in the classroom,” and his “positive attitude. He the son of Jose and Rosalva Ramirez.
Ramirez likes the movie “Source Code” and the TV program “Person of Interest.” His favorite food is tacos de lengua, and he likes the song “You’re Going Down.” His favorite activities are reading and playing his X-box.
Ramirez is inspired by his father “with how he has worked his whole life,” and he says: “If you work now, you will be thankful later.”
Ellis, the sophomore, was nominated for being “conscientious student and a positive role model in a variety of areas.” His parents are Rebecca and Michael Ellis.
Ellis’s favorite activities are football and basketball, and he especially likes these words by Abraham Lincoln: “Better to be silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.”
Saldaña Rangel was nominated for junior student of the month for “her academic improvement and being a positive role model.” Her parents are Pedro Saldaña and Maria Rangel.
Saldaña Rangel likes the movie “Instructions Not Included” and the TV production “Que Pollo.” Her favorite food is Aguachiles, and her favorite song is “En La Sierra y En La Ciudad.”
Saldaña Rangel’s advice to others is: “In this life, nothing is impossible because it doesn’t matter you don’t speak the same language as others. It’s about how bad you want to be someone better in life. Don’t let language stop you from your goals.”
The senior student of the month, Duran-Sandoval was nominated for being “well-behaved, responsible and for making great effort.” She is the daughter of Veronica Sandoval.
Duran-Rangel’s favorite movie is “Best Night Ever,” “The Walking Dead” is her favorite TV show, “In The Night” is her favorite song, she likes to dance, and she likes seafood.
She has no favorite quotes or advice for others.
