SANDPOINT — A woman implicated in a Nampa murder was apprehended in Las Vegas, the Nampa Police Department announced on Thursday.
James Patrick Mancuso and Ashley Ford were wanted in connection with a March 10 stabbing death. The pair turned up in Bonner County on March 23, but eluded Idaho State Police during a traffic stop in Kootenai.
Ford, 27, was arrested on Tuesday after Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department came across her. Ford appeared injured and officers stopped to see if they could assist her, Nampa Police said.
Ford was taken to a hospital, where she was treated and released. She was then arrested on a warrant for accessory to second-degree murder.
Mancuso, 32, remains at large. He is wanted on a warrant alleging second-degree murder.
Ford is being held at a Las Vegas jail, according to Clark County Detention Center records. Ford is being held on a fugitive warrant and she is scheduled to go before a judge on Monday, records show.
It was not immediately clear on Thursday how Ford became injured. A mugshot attendant to her arrest shows a small laceration on her right eyebrow, in addition to a larger laceration and bruising along the hairline on the left side of her face.
“How she got them, I don’t know,” said Nampa Police Sgt. Tim Riha.
Riha said Nampa detectives traveled to Las Vegas to interview Ford and were en route back to Idaho on Thursday.
“I haven’t gotten any updated information,” said Riha.
Nampa Police were grateful authorities in Nevada arrested and its hoped it will speed up the apprehension of Mancuso.
Mancuso was last seen in Las Vegas on the day Ford was arrested. Investigators said Mancuso may have grown at goatee to disguise his identity and is known to wear eyeglasses. Mancuso may be driving a gray or silver GMC four-wheel drive pickup.
Mancuso is accused of stabbing 30-year-old Robert L. Stevens during an argument outside a garage, Nampa Police said. Stevens succumbed to his injuries on March 11.
