Rotary’s spirit of service expands beyond the borders of Lincoln County. In collaboration with the World Health Organization, UNICEF and the U.S. centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Rotary International and Rotary of the Kootenai Valley is dedicated to the eradication of Polio in our lifetime. “We’ve seen a 99.9 percent reduction in polio cases worldwide since 1985,” says George Gerard, local Rotary Director, “and the Race Across America is one more way our local club can make a difference.” The 3000 mile long ride is ranked as one of the top 25 most difficult races in the world.  “Local Rotarians have given generously.”   Gerard added, “if every Rotarian in America gave $30, we would raise 10 million dollars. Nearly one third of their annual goal of $35 million per year through 2018 for polio eradication. The Gates Foundation will match all donations two to one.

To make a donation or for more information on becoming a part of Rotary of the Kootenai Valley, contact George Gerard, 293-9213.
