QUINCY — Three Quincy residents were injured when two cars collided on Highway 28 seven miles east of Quincy on Friday, April 29.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision occurred when one eastbound car slowed for severe weather conditions and was struck by a second eastbound car. All occupants were wearing seat belts.

The first car, a red 2005 Chrysler Pacifica, was driven by Tadeo Roque Chora, 40, of Quincy, the WSP reported. The driver of the second car, a black 2013 Kia Sorento, was John L. Fern, 81, of Quincy.

The WSP said Chora slowed and attempted to pull over to the shoulder due to sudden severe weather. The WSP said Fern started to lose control of his vehicle and, when he went to pull over, his car struck the Chora car.

Both vehicles came to rest off the roadway and both were totaled. They were impounded by Randy’s Towing.

Injured, Chora was taken by ambulance to the Quincy Valley Medical Center. Fern was also injured, and he was taken to the QVMC.

Also injured and taken to the QVMC was Patricia L. Fern, 79 of Ephrata. She was a passenger in the Kia.

The WSP cited Fern for “speed too fast for conditions.”
