Glacier Park plow crews on the Going-to-the-Sun Road are closing in on Logan Pass. Crews as the Hungry Horse News went to press were pioneering at Oberlin Bend, which is less than a half-mile below the pass. On the east side, crews were working at No Stump.

Getting to Logan Pass is one major hurdle. The crews then will work on the Big Drift just beyond the pass. Snow at Oberlin Bend was about 45 feet deep.

The snowpack, which was about average this winter is melting at a record pace this spring, with unusually warm and dry weather most of April and the first half of May.

The Sun Road is open to motor vehicles to Avalanche Creek at to Rising Sun on the east side.

When crews are working the hiker-biker closure is at Packer’s Roost on the west side and at Siyeh Bend on the east side. The Bowman Lake Road opened last week and the Inside North Fork Road is now open to Camas Creek as well.
