POAC to sell extraordinary Lindemann collection

The family of the extraordinary artist, Bob Lindemann, has graciously donated several pieces of his art legacy to Pend Oreille Arts Council. On exhibit and for sale at Columbia Bank, 414 Church Street starting Friday, May 13 with a reception from 5:30 to 7 p.m., these amazing watercolors will be on display through June 8.
“Bob Lindemann and POAC were practically synonymous for decades,” Marilyn Sabella said. “He was the driving force behind bringing a major traveling art exhibition to Sandpoint during Idaho’s Centennial Celebration. He worked tirelessly to bring POAC’s first visual arts gallery to fruition in the original Panhandle State Bank building, providing a professional visual art experience to local artists and our community.”
Sabella said that Lindemann and his wife, Sally, moved to Sandpoint from the San Francisco Bay Area in the early 1980s. For her it was a return to her roots, for him it was a leap from his urban artistic life. But, Sabella said that he quickly put down his own roots and flourished as an artist, gallery owner and arts educator.
“POAC and Community Assistance League’s Kaleidoscope program owes its existence to Bob Lindemann,” Sabella said. “He created the lesson plans that are used to this day to bring the joy of art to grade school students in Bonner County.
When the private endeavor that started ArtWalk was going to discontinue sponsoring it, Lindemann brought it to POAC where it has not only survived, but thrived with increased artist and business participation each year.
“Bob served as the president of POAC several times. He led the organization with passion for the arts, compassion for others with whom he served, and his trademark kindness and wit will never be forgotten.”
The Lindemann exhibit is showing on the first floor of the bank building, while the second and third floor exhibits continue with mixed-media large and small paintings and unusual fiber art.
If you haven’t made your reservations to attend the Art Party, Saturday, June 4, you will be able to do so on Friday evening.
