ROYAL CITY — An afternoon collision between a car and semi-truck on April 29 on Highway 26 six miles west of Othello left three residents of Royal City injured.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the crash occurred when the driver of the semi tractor was trying to make a left turn onto a private road. The driver of the car attempted to pass the truck in the left lane, and the car struck the truck.

Neither drugs nor alcohol were a factor, the State Patrol reported.

The driver of the car, Abel Barajas Ramirez, 44, of Royal City, was cited for improper passing. He was using his safety restraint but was injured. He was taken by ambulance to Othello Community Hospital. The white 2014 Nissan he was driving was impounded.

Adrian Silva, 49, of Othello, was driving a white 2004 Peterbilt Tractor. He was wearing his safety restraint and was not injured. The tractor sustained reportable damage but was driven from the scene.

Also injured were Maria Garcia, 44, and Carlos Barajas, 8, both of Royal City and passengers in the Ramirez Barajas car. Both were transported by ambulance to Othello Community Hospital.
