The season is winding down for the tennis teams in the area. For Mission and Ronan, divisional tournaments start on Friday. The boys will be in Mission, while the girls travel to Superior. The next week, Polson hosts their divisional tournament, while Mission and Ronan compete at the state tournament in Missoula.

This past Thursday, the Ronan girls took on the Superior-Alberton co-op. They lost the dual 3-2 with one win coming from a forfeit and the other from Breanna Turpin and Julian Matkovich, who won a tight first set in their doubles game before kicking into gear to win the second 6-2.

Over the weekend, Mission and Ronan traveled to Missoula. On Friday, Mission matched up with Loyola and Valley Christian for duals. The boys defeated Loyola and lost to Valley Christian. Tim Van Elst won both of his matches, as did the doubles team of Nathan Doll and Andrew Esslinger.

On Saturday in tournament play, Mission’s Daisie VandenBos won her first match before losing her second. In the number who spot, Brooklinn Rith went 1-2. Mission’s Warren Castor won his first match in the number two singles bracket before losing in the second. The Ronan boys doubles team of Taylor and Koble went all the way in the number two doubles bracket, winning in straight sets.

Also on Saturday, Polson hosted Butte Central and Stevensville. Both the boys and girls won their duals, although Butte Central gave the girls a little score, only losing by one. Mollie Lemm and Marlee Congdon both went 2-0 on the day, as did the doubles team of Shawna Lenz and Cassie Carlyle, and all of the boys.
