Legion baseball: Lakers A split doubleheader with Helena Reps

The Kalispell Lakers pulled out an 8-7 win in the nightcap to split an American Legion Class A baseball doubleheader with the visiting Helena Reps on Sunday afternoon.
The second game went nine innings with the Lakers scoring a running in the bottom half to pick up the win.
Jaycob Serrano went 3 for 5 and drove in three runs for the Lakers.
Sam Elliott had two RBIs.
Clayton Jacques doubled for Kalispell and Serrano tripled.
In the opener, a six-run fifth inning lifted the Reps to a 13-6 victory.
Brady Peiffer, 2 for 4, doubled, tripled and drove in four runs to lead the Lakers offense. Ryan Symmes went 3 for 4 while Serrano and Jaques were both 2 for 3.
The Lakers host the Canadian Days Tournament, which begins Friday and ends Sunday.

HELENA — The Helena Senators swept a Class AA doubleheader from the Kalispell Lakers, which had won six straight.
The Senators did all of their scoring in the first three innings of both games.
The Lakers matched the Senators in hits, eight apiece, in the first game. The Senators had eight in the second contest to six for Kalispell.
The Lakers (13-4 overall) were 1 for 20 at the plate with runners in scoring position.
Haydn Schlepp, 2 for 2, doubled and tripled in the first game while Joe Broughton, 1 for 3, doubled and Patrick O’Connell, 1 for 2, tripled.
Micah Benson, 2 for 3, was the Lakers’ top hitter in the second game. O’Connell, 1 for 3, and Dawson Smith, 1 for 2, both doubled.
The Lakers host the Canadian Days Tournament, which begins Friday and ends Sunday.

FLORENCE — Grayson Bistodeau pitched five strong innings, James Sampson-Keck, 2 for 3, homered in the fourth inning and Max Smyley, 2 for 3, drove in two runs as the Glacier Twins A slipped by the Bitterroot Bucs in a Class A conference matchup.
Glacier (4-3, 2-0) tied the game at 3-all with a run in the top of the third inning and scored the game winner in the sixth.
Bistodeau allowed three hits and struck out three. He did not walk a batter.
“He came in threw really strong,” Glacier coach Bob Rupp said.
“He threw strikes, kept everything around the plate.”
Ryan Veneman, 2 for 4, was the other top hitter for Glacier.
Glacier beat Bitterroot on Saturday 9-3.
The Twins host Kootenai Valley on Friday for a conference doubleheader starting at 5 p.m.

LIBBY — Sam Hannay and Mo Henderson combined on a 4-hitter as the Kootenai Valley Rangers defeated the Missoula Pioneers on the final day of the Loggertown Wood Bat Classic.
Hannay did not allow a run over five innings. He gave up two hits, issued one walk and struck out eight.
Henderson allowed two runs, two hits, struck out two and walked none.
Hank Dunn led the offense, going 2 for 2 and driving in a run. He singled in the first and second innings.
Dawson Henrie, James Dunn and Mo Henderson also had RBIs.

LIBBY — Jacob Harrod pitched a no-hitter as Mission Valley crushed Clark Fork in a game that ended on the 10-run rule after four innings on the final day of the Loggertown Wood Bat Classic.
Harrod struck out eight batters and walked three.
Karsen Krebs had a perfect day at the plate for the victors, going 3 for 3, scoring three times and driving in a run.
Jacob Harrod, 1 for 1, had three RBIs for Mission Valley.
Walter Wood, 2 for 2, doubled and Julian Jones, 1 for 2, homered.
Late Saturday evening in tournament play, Mission Valley edged Calgary.
Harrod was 3 for 4 in that outing while Nyqolas Gillingham, 1 for 4, drove in two runs along with Walter Wood, 2 for 3.
