Park Service birthday party is Wednesday

Glacier Country Tourism his hosting a 100th birthday party for the National Park Service in West Glacier on Wednesday.

The celebration will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Glacier Outdoor Center Pavilion at 12400 U.S. 2.

Several special guests will speak, beginning at 6 p.m., including Montana Lt. Gov. Mike Cooney, Glacier Park Superintendent Jeff Mow, and Katherine Cheng, Expedia’s head of global corporate citizenship.

The celebration is open to the public and the party will feature free appetizers and cocktails from Glacier Distilling, Glacier Ginger Brew, Kalispell Brewing Co., Pepsi, the Izaak Walton Inn, Belton Chalet, Glacier National Park Lodges and Glacier Park Inc.

Climate change awards announced

Climate Smart Glacier Country announced its Climate Smart Champions during a ceremony at the Earth Day celebration April 21 in Whitefish. Awards were presented to businesses, youth and an individual who are leaders in building local solutions to climate change challenges.
