Three different teams brought home top honors from their district track meets this past weekend.

The Arlee girls edged out the defending Class B state champions, Plains, by two points to win the 14C district title. The title came down to the last race, where a first place finish by Arlee in the 1600 meter relay over Charlo gave them enough points to go ahead of Plains in the team points.

Arlee’s Ashley Revis gave the Scarlets 30 individual points and had a hand in 20 more with wins in both relays. Carly Hergett had three individual wins, ran in the winning 400 relay, and took second behind teammate Abby Yocum in the triple jump. Natalie Yocum had the other individual win, taking first in the mile.

The Charlo girls came in third behind Plains. Their only win came from Brooklyn Foust, who had an incredible kick at the end of the two mile race to edge out Natalie Yocum by less than a second. Cheyenne Nagy had two second place finishes and ran on both second place relay teams. Freshman Kaitlin Cox added three third place finishes and two seconds.

The Charlo boys, who have dominated the state track scene in recent years, took top team honors at the district meet. They were led by senior Michael Delaney, who had individual wins in the 100, 200, and 300 hurdles, and ran on both winning relay teams. Dugan Runkel added wins in the discus and shot put, and freshman Wills DeGrandpre won the two mile. Jared Doty added points in all of his events, and Bridger Smith took second in both the javelin and the pole vault.

The Arlee boys came in third as a team. The Warriors had individual wins by Isaac Desjarlais, who won the 400, and by TJ Knoll, who won the pole vault with a personal record of 11-6. Desjarlais also took second in the 100 and 800. Aaron Perry added a second place finish in the high jump and 200, plus a fourth place finish in the 100. Harold Yocum added a second place finish in the 110 hurdles and a third place finish in the 300 hurdles.

The top six finishers qualified for the divisional tournament in Missoula this coming weekend.

The Ronan boys had a great weekend of performances in Missoula at the 6B district meet.

There were three individual winners for the Chiefs. Jackson Duffey won the two mile, Zeke Misa won the 300 hurdles, and Nick Froehlich won the pole vault. However, it was not necessarily the wins as much as it was the amount of kids that placed in the top six that won the meet for Ronan. Duffey added a second place finish in the mile and a third place finish in the 800. Misa added a third place finish in the 400, and his brother Aaron added points in the 300 hurdles, 400, 110 hurdles, and ran on the relay. Kasey Mock took third in the discus and shot put, and fifth in the javelin. Collin McGuyer took fourth in the pole vault and 200, and fifth in the 100.

Mission had 29 points at the end of the meet. Kaleb Durglo finished fourth in the javelin and the 110 hurdles. Tate Weingart added a fourth place finish in the triple jump and a fifth place finish in the mile. Nick Durglo finished fifth in the 200.

The Ronan girls finished in third place with 75 points. Ashley McCready had three individual wins – in the 800, 1600, and 3200-meter races. Lee Camel added a win in the shot put and took second in the triple jump, and third in the long jump. She also took sixth in the discus. Kara Holmlund added a fifth place finish in the shot put and a third place finish in the discus.

Mission finished with 34 points, lead by an individual win by freshman Afton Brander in the high jump. She also took fourth in the triple jump. Senior Sydney Castor took fourth in the discus, fifth in the 100, fifth in the 200, and sixth in the triple jump. Emanuelle LaChance added points in both the shot put and javelin.

The top six finishers qualified for the divisional meet, which takes place alongside the Class C divisional meet in Missoula this weekend.

*Meet record

The Polson track and field team finished up their regular season by hosting the Nelson/Thomas ABC meet. It was a pretty great day for Polson’s senior Jacob Clairmont, who won the 110 hurdles, 300 hurdles, pole vault, and took second in the triple jump. His jump of 15 feet in the pole vault tied the meet record and is the highest he has gone so far this year. Tanner Wilson took second in the 100 and fourth in the 200. Colton Cote added a third place finish in the 110 hurdles, and Danny DiGiallonardo finished fifth in the long jump. The Polson short relay team also took second place.

The Polson girls did not have any individual winners, but had good performances by numerous kids. Mariah Corrigan took second in the javelin, Erin Sampson took second in the shot put and third in the javelin, and Molly Sitter added a second place finish in the two mile and a fourth place finish in the one mile. The short relay team took second and the long relay took third.

Polson travels to the divisional tournament in Frenchtown on Friday and Saturday.
