A series of guided hikes and environmental education opportunities hosted by Whitefish Legacy Partners begins this evening.

The public is invited to meet at the Lion Mountain Trailhead and join the “Bear Aware Guided Hike” from 6 to 8 p.m.

Participants will increase their animal awareness and confidence while traveling in bear country. The workshop will also discuss bear signs and safety protocol.

Led by former wilderness forest ranger Kim Corette, this family-friendly outing will involve an easy one- to two-mile hike and will feature instruction and hands-on use of inert bear spray canisters donated by Counter Assault.

For more information about this hike and other scheduled outings, visit www.whitefishlegacy.org or call 406-862-3880 or email info@whitefishlegacy.org.
