Ronan girls, Fisher Neimeyer compete at state golf tournament

It was a weird day of golf for the Ronan team last Tuesday. After a sunny weekend, the team traveled to Anaconda for the divisional tournament, where they played in the snow.
The top four teams qualified for the state tournament, but players could also qualify individually. The Ronan girls had finished in the top two or three in most of their meets, and had a good chance to win. However, the cold weather did not help their game, as they finished fourth to just sneak into the state tourney. Senior Lauryn Hales led the team with a 14th place finish. Tania Ulutoa came in 18th, shooting a 120. Heather Pospishil came in 20th with a 123, and teammate Kaitlyn Woirhaye was a shot behind her in 22nd. Brooklyn Olson finished with a 132.
On the boys’ side, Fisher Niemeyer finished in 10th place, shooting an 83, to qualify for the state tournament. Just missing the cut was Tanner Olson, who shot a 90 to finish 19th.
The state tournament was held in Huntley Project on Tuesday. Look for results in next week’s paper.
