MOSES LAKE — The community is invited to the grand opening of Moses Lake’s newest park on Saturday.

The grand opening of Crossroads Park, hosted by the Moses Lake Parks and Recreation Department and Hayden Homes, is scheduled to kickoff at 11 a.m. and run until 2 p.m. Attendees will be treated to a free picnic, games and prizes.

Hayden Homes partnered with the city to construct the 3.6-acre park located at 1600 Truman Drive, with Hayden Homes donating and developing the land, installing irrigation and a pathway and planting grass, trees and bushes. In response, the city waived the parks fees that, in most cases, are paid by the developer of parks in the city, according to a release from Hayden Homes.

“For us, this is a twofold celebration,” Hayden Homes Board Chairman Hayden Watson said. “We are thrilled to be part of creating a beautiful new park, but we also are taking this opportunity to celebrate the Moses Lake community and show our deep appreciation for the support we’ve received since we started building here 22 years ago, and for the valuable partnership we’ve enjoyed with the city over the years.”

Hayden Homes has built almost 800 homes in the Moses Lake since 1994. Through the company’s non-profit organization, First Story, about $12,000 has been donated to local charities such as Youth Outdoors Unlimited, the Boys and Girls Club of the Columbia Basin, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Moses Lake and NCW Camp Fire.

In addition, through First Story’s Homebuyer Program affordable housing opportunities have been given to four families in Moses Lake. The program offers zero-interest, zero-down payment home loans to local low-income families.

“Moses Lake has been incredibly good to us over the years,” Watson said. “We plan to continue giving back to this community for many more years.”
