LETTER: Hillary not that impressive

Mr. Baum, your “bomb”-astic Guest Opinion gave me purpose to respond to your “Hillary Clinton and animal plea.”

Since you aimed your diatribe at those you contend never met Hillary Rodham Clinton, I felt it incumbent on me to respond to your egregious commentary since I have met her and her husband and came away with a totally different opinion.

Of course you are entitled to your own opinion but to make such unworthy claims about either of them is contemptible and, in many ways, perfidious.

First of all, you speak of the intelligence of both of them. Let us understand that intelligence does not necessarily equate to moral values, integrity, character and honesty. Yes, Mr. Clinton is a Rhodes Scholar and was president of the United States. So what? Neither of those impressive facts gives me any solace or comfort when I know of other factors in his life that are not so impressive or qualitative.

As far as Mrs. Clinton is concerned, it is amazing to me how so many of those progressive zealots like yourself find no fault or fantasy with her qualifications or her character. As of today her unfavorables around the country stands at 61 percent. That is really comforting, isn’t it? You make excuses for her abuse of the e-mail system and refuse to talk about her involvement as secretary of state in the Benghazi fiasco. And whether or not you can bring yourself to admit that she lied to the families of those who died at Benghazi and about the so-called video she wrapped her arms around and attempted to pass on to the nation as fact, only speaks to how closed your mind is to the truth.

Yes, you can call me and others who oppose her candidacy as hateful, super-ideological or even a part of some fantastically mindless group of zombies but that will never diminish the truth that your side of the political aisle is simply voting for more freebies and increased entitlements whether earned or not.

Oh and by the way, we may agree on much of your case for the animals but in this upcoming election the fight is over our future as Americans. Mainly because I feel our time must be spent protecting our rights, our Constitution, our basic freedoms and liberties. Once we win that battle we will certainly stand for the rights of our friends in the animal kingdom.
