Annual Car Show in Superior, June 4th

The 17th Annual Old Schoolhouse Rock Car Show will be held on June 4th. The Old Schoolhouse Rock Car Show will once again dazzle the town of Superior with a sparkling array of custom and restored classics, street rods, and antique cars. Every year there are new models to admire, along with repeat performers from previous years

The Car Show is held on the lawn of the Old School at 150 River Street in Superior. Early registration on Friday starts at 1:00 p.m. with a Cruise planned for a drive to O Ace’s restaurant in DeBorgia, MT. Cars line up at 5:00 p.m. on the lawn of the Old School. There will be a sock hop dance at the 4-Aces in Superior Friday evening. Registration opens again at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday.

The Mineral County Community Foundation and Chamber of Commerce hosts this popular event. Committee Chairman, Mike Curtin, with help from his sister, Patti Curtin, organizes and coordinates this all-volunteer effort. Mike, along with committee members, work with sponsors and donors, the High School Business Professionals of America (BPA), and is reach out to car clubs to encourage their participation. There is also a competition among high school students for the winning design for next year’s poster and t-shirt.

Activities include a Poker Walk, 50/50, the Ball Drop (a competition to choose the best time for a wooden ball to float the Clark Fork from Lozeau Bridge to the bridge on River St.) and competition for 20 trophies. We have a new trophy this year, “Veteran’s Choice”, where the Superior VFW veterans will vote on registered cars owned by veterans. Vendors will also provide a variety of food, and craft items.

Funds raised are used to provide scholarships and supports local charities. This promises to be a fun-filled weekend.
